1 · Acceptance

By using this site or any service — the public dataset, the API, embed widgets, the candidate register, or recruiter partner services — you agree to these terms. If you're agreeing on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

2 · What's provided

The Global Layoff Index is a public record of announced workforce reductions, sourced from government filings, corporate disclosures, and verified news reporting. Also provided: an API for programmatic access, embed widgets for use on third-party sites, and a private candidate register connecting affected employees to vetted recruiter partners.

3 · What you can do

  • Browse the public pages for personal and professional use.
  • Cite specific statistics or visualisations with attribution to The Global Layoff Index and a link to the page cited.
  • Use embed widgets per the embed terms.
  • Use the API per the API terms.

4 · What you can't do

  • Scrape, mirror, or systematically copy the dataset.
  • Republish substantial portions of the dataset without a commercial licence.
  • Use the data to deceive, harass, or harm any individual.
  • Use the data to make automated employment-related decisions about identified individuals.
  • Remove, modify, or obscure attribution on any embedded widget.
  • Use the dataset to train machine-learning models without a commercial licence.
  • Share, resell, or transfer your API key. Use the API to power a competing product that systematically reproduces the dataset.

Misuse may result in suspension or termination of access.

5 · Embed widgets

Free embeds are available for non-commercial use, provided attribution is preserved and visible, the widget is loaded directly from our servers, and the data is not modified before display. Commercial embedding requires a commercial embed licence — email contact@gosivl.com.

6 · API

Access requires an API key. Free tier covers 1,000 requests/month for non-commercial use. Paid tiers cover higher volume and commercial use under a separate agreement. Rate limits may apply.

7 · Candidate register

By joining the register, you grant a limited licence to share your profile with vetted recruiter partners actively hiring in your function and geography, as described in the privacy policy.

  • Your profile is never made public on the site.
  • You can pause, edit, or delete your profile at any time.
  • Joining is free for candidates.
  • You confirm the information in your profile is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
  • The register is a matching service, not a placement service. No contact from recruiters is guaranteed.

8 · Accuracy

Every event is sourced from public filings, corporate disclosures, or verified news reporting, and verified against at least two independent sources before publishing.

Data is provided “as is”. The dataset is not warranted as complete, current, or free from errors. Numbers reported by companies and government agencies are sometimes revised. Reliance on this data for investment, hiring, policy, or other decisions is at your own risk.

To submit a correction, email contact@gosivl.com. Reviews happen within 48 hours and records are updated where the evidence supports it.

Verified events are not removed at the request of the subject company, its representatives, or any third party.

9 · Intellectual property

The site, its design, the compiled dataset, the verification taxonomy, and all related materials are protected by copyright, database rights, and other intellectual-property laws. Individual factual data points are not copyrightable as facts; the compiled work, methodology, and presentation are.

10 · User content

Content you submit (corrections, candidate profiles, tip-offs) remains yours. You grant a non-exclusive licence to use, store, and process that content for the purpose of providing the services and maintaining the public record. You confirm you have the right to submit anything you submit.

11 · Disclaimers and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, services are provided “as is” and “as available”. All warranties — express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for purpose, and non-infringement — are disclaimed. No liability for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages. Total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid in the preceding 12 months, or $100, whichever is greater.

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

12 · Changes

These terms may be updated. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage for 30 days before taking effect. The date at the top reflects the current version. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
